I'm Currently Feeling: | Panic in my sleep I keep waking up recently from bad nightmares - usually about spiders, this phobia is getting beyond control.. anyway, I had a nightmare a huge spider was in the corner of my room and was crawling down the wall, I woke up.. turned the light on and lay there looking around to make sure there was no spider.
The first time this happened was when I was pregnant, id wake up saying "I need to get out". This has been happening a lot more recently, not always about spiders.. worrying about people breaking in etc.
The other night, whilst we were staying over my mums, I had the worst panic yet. I don't remember a nightmare or anything but I jumped up, ran to the door screaming "help" or something similar (it's a blur). My heart was racing and I felt terrified, until I saw the hallway light, Sonny cuddled me and my mum came to see if I was ok.
Anyone have an idea what could cause this? I have found out about panic attacks during deep sleep but I don't have the more physical symptoms upon waking, saying that though.. the other night in bed as I was drifting off, I was worried I was about to have a panic attack.. so I had to really think about my breathing.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sounds a bit like night terrors to me, I used to have them when I was younger and would wake up absolutely terrified and almost every night I'd be screaming.. I think with night terrors though you're not meant to be able to remember what scared you so much..
If its bothering you a lot I'd go to the doctors hun, it could be something thats underlying (probably anxiety issues etc) that you could sort out with a bit of counseling? Whatever you do I hope you get it sorted because I know that things like this are horrible.
Also - Maybe when you get nervous or scared it elevates your heart rate a lot. That would explain the breathlessness etc, that happens to me, when I had to stay in the hospital I was nervous the first night so my HR and BP were sky high and then went down so they let me go home - and then I had to have regular BP checks (pre-e and all that) and everytime I went my BP would be up but would go down after an overnight stay. But go to the doctors, might be able to help |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I get these, i had one only last night. Mine started after i took some anti-histimines (sp?) when i was about 18 (apparently a side effect), but i've had them ever since. They are worse when i'm pregnant. As far as i know they are night terrors, but i've never been to the docs, i'd feel a bit daft. I always think spiders are falling down onto me, so then i vault out of bed, and head for the door (i've set the burglar alarm off more than once). It takes me 5-10 mins to calm down, and realise it's not real.
If you do go to the docs let me know how you go on, i'd be interested to know. |
