I know you said you wanted a "get out of the house" hobby but I wanted to throw out a hobby I have. I penpal. I love it! I go on penpalsnow.com and I go through different countries that I would like to have penpals from and the age range & gender then I email ones that interest me. Some will email you back and some dont but I have had luck with it. I also posted an ad on there to tell some about myself and what I did want/didnt want in a penpal. I also do it snail mail because the letters are so much more personal that way and use cute stationary and stickers! I have penpals from the UK, Canada, Australia and Sweden and actually have recently gotten one from Brazil, another from france, and another from Korea. It may not be a hobby that suits you but I thought I would throw that out there for anyone else who might enjoy it. I love receiving letters from other countries in the mail
Postage can get a bit pricey (a book of 30 stamps here is $17.00 and to send here in Canada is 1 stamp, US is 2 stamps and International is 4 stamps) So with as many international penpals as I have I need to start buying international stamps & canadian stamps) but its definitely less than what I would be spending with a more expensive hobby! Just thought I would share
