I'm Currently Feeling:  | My daughter - the pack rat!
So I got up the energy to clean out my kid's drawers and go through clothes that didn't fit them or were stained and needed to be tossed. Back to school is soon and need to make more room for new clothes.
I did my son's drawers and were on to my daughter's and Miss Nosey Parker comes in wondering what I was doing. I told her.
This pile is for charity and this pile is going in the garbage. Oh, she so wasn't happy. "I want to save them for my girl when I get older." Even the stained and ripped ones. Try and explain to a 6 year old child that by the time they are 20 and if they saved all their clothes, they'd have nowhere to walk in their bedroom. She asked me how she was going to get clothes for her girl when she gets older. I tell her that she will have a job. Hmm, a job? "Where will I get one?" she asks. 
Anyhow, after some tears and hyperventillating from her, she managed to accept the fact that the clothes had to go.
Oh, and Dan said to me the other day on the phone, as I am starting to panic about all the stuff I need to do in addition to buying clothes for back to school, that he would take the kids out and buy them clothes when I was in the hospital. Oh, yes, nosey Amanda heard this.
So, here's what she asks every day now:
Amanda: How many days until the baby?
Me: 28, 27, 26, etc.
Amanda: Good, then I can get new clothes. |
