I'm Currently Feeling: | Has anyone ever been on a small plane? Hi ladies,
Now, I have flown all over the world in jets but today I have a flight to Fairbanks in a 19 seater plane and I am soooooooooooooooooo nervous. I do not like small planes. I always told hubby that I would never go in a small plane because they crash but now I have to for work.
Someone please tell me that they are safe!!!!!!! I am such a chicken!
On a side note - I have never been to Fairbanks so I am hoping to see Mt. McKinley from the sky on my way North! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | They are perfectly safe, don't worry! I live right by an airfield and they are always flying around here... Been up in a few and jumped out of one, and never had any problems!
Just to warn you though, they do feel like they bounce around the sky a lot more than the big ones, but it's nothing to worry about! x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thank you, Ma'am. I appreciate the positive words.
I think I am such a freak now because when I was a little kid, my Mom dated a man who owned a "kit" plane that and took us up in it and did tricks even though we BEGGED him not too. Ever since then, I am afraid of small planes. LOL I am such a baby! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I haven't, but my brother flew in them all the time when he lived in Fairbanks and he did not have any bad experiences.
GOOD LUCK! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | They are safe. I used to fly two seaters and have done a lot of travelling on small commercial jets. As Sam's Mum said, you will feel the turbulance more but it's nothing to worry about. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | They're perfectly safe Hubby used to fly a 6 seater jet and now flies a 10 seater.
When I'm flying internal France flights it's always a small plane, and the ride can just be a bit bumpy but that's it. Actually I like it, feels more of an adventure.. but maybe I'm just weird! |

| I've flown in all sorts of small planes in East Africa, the Amazon rainforest, the mountains of BC - all over. Many places you really wouldn't want to crash, because if you survived, they'd never ever find you! lol! Never any problems, though - not once.
They are noisier, I find. Earplugs are sometimes nice to have. And yes, I felt the turbulence far more. |

| I've been on small planes loads of times. When I used to live in Norway, I would fly to a small town in northern Norway on a little plane. Because of where this place was situation, the plane would just clunk down on this tiny runway. But, it was no problem and the pilots are usually very experienced. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | They make me more nervous too. They're louder and you feel the plane's movement more - flaps, wheel going up and down, stuff like that.
I realize rationally the little bitty 20 seat plane is just as safe as a big jumbo jetliner. There are the same FAA regulations that need to be followed, the same maintenance schedules, and the same qualified pilots and crew.
When somebody figures out how to conquer the irrational part of the brain that refuses to listen to logic and reason I will let you know. |
