How do you clean a self cleaning cooker?

Hi guys,

I need advice, our inbuilt cooker is 'self cleaning' - it hasn't been manually cleaned for ages and is in a right state - what with things bubbling over and exploding everywhere.

Anyway I don't want to do my usual bleaching and scrubbing, as I believe that would ruin the 'self clean' coating?

How do I clean the minging oven - I'm thinking soap and water is gonna be really hard work as the oven is absolutely caked/baked crap all over it.

Any ideas?

Soak it for a very very long time in soapy water then see what comes off. It might take a few goes.
