I cannot believe what Im watching....

... just watching a programme on discovery Home and health called labour and delivery!!

A woman was admitted and gave birth to a gorgeous lil girl!! Shes a heroin addict and is HIV positive!! Social worker went and spoke to her and she says how she has had 5 previous children (cant remember there birth dates nor birth years)!!! She has left the hospital and left her baby girl there!! She was talked to about contraception and was advised about the injection as she clearly cannot take a pill everyday!! She refused!!

This got me thinking about the adoption process that many of you have suggested instead of abortion!! But from this woman alone 6 children are "caught up in the system"!! With the youngest one possibly HIV positive!

Ive tried to look up some statistics on children in care but they are quite hard to find.... however I found that 10,000 children are currently in care in UK alone!! This shows that couples TTC or who cant conceive are clearly not going down this route!!

Also remembering from what I studied in my degree..... a HIGH percentage of the prison population have actually come out of childcare... with no stable upbringing!!

Some worldwide statistics I found!
Every DAY 5,760 more children become orphans
Every YEAR
143,000,0002 Orphans in the world today spend an average of 10 years in an orphanage or foster home

Approximately 250,000 children are adopted annually, but…
Every YEAR 14,050,000 children still grow up as orphans and AGE OUT of the system
Every DAY 38,493 children AGE OUT
Every 2.2 SECONDS, another orphan child AGES OUT with no family to belong to and no place to call home

Now I was totally for reducing the abortion limit they currently have in the UK but this has opened my eyes and I can see where our government are coming from now!!

Its really upsetting me... all these unwanted children... Something really really needs to be done in terms of contraception etc!! Or else these figures are only going to get bigger

Sorry just had to get that rant off my chest!!

That makes my heart bleed....

I agree something needs to be done in terms of contraception - people need to be more responsible in my opinion and face the consequences for their actions - but with abortion being so easily available they don't learn and then it happens over and over again.

The government is so soft. Abortion I don't think is the answer. I really think that the cold hard approach should be directed at those who are irresponsible rather than the poor children who suffer in the long run.

Totally agree!!!

Since I left school they now have a drop in clinic for contaceptive pills etc etc!! Which Im not sure whether thats good or bad..... promotion or prevention??
I even saw an advert in a mag yesterday for the emergency morning after pill.... which may well be ONE step towards the problem!!! Or for some give them the feeling of "wont use anything as Ill just get this time and time again" and then forget!!

grrrr

I think it's a good thing - you can't stop the younger ones from having sex - but at least you can attempt to help them be safe if they are going to.

The new abortion pills that are available now I think are even worse - because it has become so easy to terminate just by taking a couple of pills.

I have a really odd opinon on this

I think that the government should put an infertility drug in all water. Then when you decide that you want to have a baby. You are vetted by the same system that vets people for adoption. Then they give you an anti-dote. I know its an odd way of looking at it and probably goes against all human rights laws. But its a basic human right to be brought up by loving people.. who ever they maybe..

Just thought Id share
