I was watching TV the other day and came across a TV show about a man who is half man half tree!
Well he's not technically half tree but he has a disease where warts sprout all over his body and they start growing huge, branch like vines out of them.. they will continue to grow until his entire body is covered I found it absoloutely amazing.
The sad thing is that to make a living he performs in a circus crew with other people who have rare skin cases, he can barely walk from the 'branches' growing out of him and his wife left him because of his condition!
And here I am, fat and pregnant complaining. I should be damn happy!
I have to say that is disgusting. Mind you, it's not his fault, and bless him for taking the courage to use it to make a living. Personally I don't think that I could live like that. Poor guy.
Certainly is, it's caused by Human papillomavirus, a fairly common infection that usually causes small warts to develop on sufferers.
The reason the subject has an extreme case is due to a rare genetic mutation that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts. The virus was therefore able to "hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells", ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as "cutaneous horns" on his hands and feet.
