The baby borrowers

I don't know if this has been discussed before but NBC just started the US version of The baby borrowers ( I know,I know,we're thieves...).

As much as I really like the idea of showing teens what it's really like to have a baby,I find it very unrealistic.

Plus, would you actually 'borrow' a child to a completely unexperienced teenager? I know they say it's safe, but seriously...one girl actually got annoyed with a baby and told him to 'starve'!

I watched it a while back, I thought it was horrible how they was arguing in front of the baby.

I wouldn't "Borrow" my baby, no chance.

I know! Even though, the babys are said to be safe, isn't it a bit stressful for a baby to listen to all those arguments and being in the middle of that chaos?

You can't "borrow" your own baby. You can "lend" someone else your baby, and you can "borrow" someone else's baby.

Sorry, just having a twitchy Grammar Nazi moment. Please forgive me.

btw, I totally agree about your actual point. I can't imagine lending my kid to any of those couples. *Shudder*

I personally think its the stupidest thing ever. They have to learn. NOBODY, even those parents, knew exactly what to do right away. They had to learn themselves. The show takes these kids who haven't had any baby experience and throws them into it with the parents watching. They didn't do everything perfect right off the bat either. They're setting the kids up to fail just to show that teens shouldn't have kids.

Biggest bullshit show I've ever heard of in my entire life. Those poor kids don't have a chance of succeeding because no matter what they do, the parent is going to come over and tell them they're doing it wrong.

Edited: ALSO, those babies are taken away from their parents and put with complete strangers, of course they're going to act up and cry more. When you babysit, the kids do that, do they not? They turn into terrors as soon as mom steps out the door

Totally agree!

It's one thing when you just give a 6-7 months old baby to a teen that has no idea what to do and a completely other thing when you care for that child from day one and he/she is yours!

Of course, that mistakes are bound to happen. They should show to teens that having a baby is hard, not impossible.
It's already a setup for them to fail.

Stpid, some of these teens are really responisble and although I do not condone planned teen pregnancy some of them would be able to have a baby in a about 2 or 3 years especially if they really want to.

Of course, some of them are incredibly immature, like that girl that 'wants nothing to do with the baby'

Now they are going to break up relationships just for the hell of it...

The point is to talk them out of having one NOW and to go to school or whatever before planning a family. I have nothing against that, why is that wrong? If they want one in three or four years, good. But this way they can plan on it and not just have it happen at a bad time or something. And the couples are constantly taped and the parents can intervene whenever they want during the show. The babies are in no danger whatsoever.

I actually really liked the one they had over here. I watched all of them after I came accross them one night way back when I was with my ex fiance.
