I'm Currently Feeling: | Is this really fair? Am sooo annoyed!
My OH was caught speeding a few months ago in a 30 mph zone (can't remember what speed he was doing), when pulled over by the police officer he admitted to driving above the limit and was given 7 days to produce his driving licence at the station and a £60 fine. Both of these were done.
However, weeks later we receive a letter stating that he is to appear in court for speeding etc!
Well, OH has gone to court today and has just phoned to say that they now want him to pay £120 today, and they have refunded the £60 paid previously. They are aware of our outgoings and incomings (given in questionnaire supplied by them) and we have £6 to spare every week. How exactly do they expect us to pay £120 today!!! And why did they need to summons him to court anyway when he had already supplied his driving licence and paid the £60 fine given on the day?
I am absolutely fuming They made a comment that he had put in the questionnaire that he pays off a credit card, which he explained is my credit card not his but due to his car being in need of repair and required for him to get to work he had to put the repairs on my credit card and so is paying me back. He was told 'that really isn't good enough' and ordered to pay the £120 today, double the original fine that he paid!
Grrr where is the justice?! We are struggling living hand to mouth to provide for ourselves and children yet nobody seems to care, I just get so annoyed as there are people out there committing terrible crimes and are just getting off with a 'slap on the wrist' yet we are hard working and paying into the system and this is what we get. What a waste of resources, time and money.
I do realise that my OH was wrong in breaking the speed limit and he fully admits that he did, but why did such a matter have to go to court when he paid the fine and produced his driving licence as asked?
Soz for the rant!
Any thoughts, opinions and advice welcome! |

| That does seem abit unfair if he did what he was asked the first time and paid the fine and produced his licence. 120 TODAY?!!! What happens if you dont pay it today =| |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It seems such a waste of time and money!
He did pay and produce his licence and then they refunded it and said he had to go to court. We phoned and questioned why this needed to happen when he had already paid etc. And they just said that 'sometimes it just happens'?!?
I really don't think it's fair, but am not sure we can appeal or anything |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My OH got caught speeding in a 30 also and he had to go to court as his speed was above the 10% limit which they give u.
he had to pay £120 but they let him pay it in 3 installments!! so many different rules for differet people, my cousin was doing 47 in a 30 and he was let off!! not fair is the law... |
