That does seem so unfair! Probably cost them more than the original £60 to take him to court too?!

'Sometimes it just happens' really doesn't help much either??! I'd at least write and complain, and ask for a proper explanation x

My friends little brother (he's 21) was caught doing over 100mph in a 60 zone. He was given a fine and told the police would be in touch for him to go to court. This was over a year ago and they've never been in touch!!! How lucky was he!!!

The police want to get out and catch the real criminals & tax/insurance frauds!!

I'd defo write & complain!!!

that does seem really unfair!! Normally once you have produced your documents and paid your fine.. thats it.. its done!!

How did the police officer know what speed he was doing?? Thats what im finding confusing!! Also was the police officer on his own or with another???

prevention is better than cure.... i suppose could be the saying here!!!
If he had killed someone doing this speed then he would indeed be a "real cirminal"!!

O dear, o dear, o dear, have I just entered a time wharp and been taken back to the middle ages?! I think I have reading this response!

'The police have nothing better to do', are you kidding me?!?! I know a lot of police officers and you simply would not be saying this if you knew just how hard they work and how incredibly stressed they are (it might vary from force to force but the forces I know are ridiculously busy).

Sure, there are some bad apples and some lazy police officers but in all honesty, police are so under the kosh doing one of the MOST stressful job ever so it might be worth you spending a day as a police officer b4 making comments like this, my lovelies. This isn't some TV programme where police eat dohnuts all day. This is real life.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking your post Mummy2Oscar, am NOT directing these comments at u cos I actually feel your partner was treated unfairly, I just feel I need to address some of the old-fashioned opinions about the police that have been raised in response to your post by 1 or 2 ladies. I actually laughed out loud ... the last I heard opinions like that was on Road Wars on Sky 1 the other day from this chavvy mum of a proper out and out criminal screeching: 'ere you f-ing filth, why u arresting my boy, ain't u got nuthin' beta to do?' ...

Thanks TrixieLox when I first read these comments I was quite tired and didnt want to make another massive debate about police officers... especially after the weeks we have had over smoking and alcohol for example!!

But as a special constable I see exactly what the police have to contend with and it really annoys me when people have a blinkered view and I must say uneducated view because they read the tabloids and other sorts!!!

It wouldnt be the police officer who takes people to court its the CPS who decided whether to investigate further!! The police have so so much to do I bet if you asked them what they thought of all the paperwork that accompanies a simple arrest or even a caution over speeding they would themselves say its a waste of time!!

Ive experienced having to book someone for traffic offences and whilst Im doing it and the radio is going in my ear about other crimes.. Im thinking.. "you fool are wasting my time... but it HAS to be done"!!!

Same goes for driving whilst on your mobile phone.... its absolutely disgusting

Ooooh, you're a special!! But you look all sweet and pwetty!!!! Like butter wouldn't melt in your mouth! Good for you gal!!

When I was little, my parents whispered this little secret in my ear. Totally original idea. Very clever. They said to me: 'Trixie, my luv, do not break the law' then patted me on my head. That's an original idea if ever I heard one ... I think that might explain why I don't hate the police and am generally a very happy young lady ... x
