I'm Currently Feeling: | We pay £110 a month for a 3 bed semi!
I keep my eye on all the monthly bills and we are always paying the right amount, or slightly more, but that means £110 on gas and lecky and £35 on water.
Hope your hubbie manages to sort something out Hypnorm. I'm sure he will. |

If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change. The company will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.
| And if they haven't let you know that far in advance, they've broke the direct debit mandate.. and therefore the law. If you get it an can't afford it ring them up and ask them to spread the payment over a 6 months period. They have to let you re-pay an accumulated bill over the period it was accumulated, so if it's 6 months since they set up the DD wrong.. then a 6 month period to pay it back. If they still try to take the DD cancel it with your bank and set up a new payment plan with the company. I used to work for an Electricity Company chick, if you need any help with anything like that let me know. xXx | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | oh yeh sorry.... I knew that they had to write to you before hand and say your dd is changing etc etc!!
But without contact they will just chage your dd after a letter of notification has been sent!! They wont take it on themselves to phone you and check the funds are available!! |

Also, if they suddenly give you a bill after 3 years of estimates.. they won't tell you you're not liable to pay it all either lol
My mum had a meter change they never updated on their system, they gave her a new bill for over £600 when they got around to doing it over 2 years later.. Hmm don't think so. They'd took meter eadings every 3 months, the flows showed a problem, but they never bothered to sort it... They had to wipe the bill.... and they did, the whole of it. They also tried making my church pay a one and a half grand catch up bill as they'd estimated for 3 years.. they're only liable for one year of it, as the electricity company has a duty of care to check the readings at least once every 12 months. They're currently re-billing it for one year, so maybe £600 instead of a £1500.. which is a lot of difference. They pray on the fact most people don't know their rights with it =( http://www.energywatch.org.uk/ <3 Best website for letting you know your rights with them <3 | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | My Gas D/D is now £116/month and elec £24. Apparently we have used £1100 worth of gas in the past year...pretty impressive for a 2 bed terrace where we rarely have the heating on! F*ckers!!! |

| lulu, check the meter numbers on your bill and your meter, make sure they have the correct one installed for your property. Also if you want to check the readings are right for what gas equiptment you have in your home most companies have an energy efficiency team. Take readings at the same time every day for a week, note what gas appliances have been used, ring your company and see if it ties in.. make sure there's not a problem somewhere xXx | | | | Status: Offline

| Just depends if you have electric or gas heating really. Most 2 bedroom houses bills should be £40 gas £40 electric as a guideline, but it can be £20 elec and £60 gas depending on how the heating's set up etc etc. xXx | | | | Status: Offline
