Thumbs down

Really not happy..

Anyone seen that advert where the little kiddies do everything that there parents do? Then at the end when the parents smoking the chid will pick up a crayon and pretend to smoke??

Well now my daughter who is 3 in September has picked this up, and now copyng the children that are doing that with there crayons.

Now she keeps saying she is just going to have a cigeratte (sp) And puts crayons into her toy babies mouths too so they are smoking

All from this advert, they could atleast put it on a much later time when kiddies are in bed atleast!

I agree. That is really bad. I think you just have to say to your daughter not to do that. Say its horrible and can make you poorly.

Do you smoke?

No i dont and neither does OH ( apart from sometimes at work, but NEVER infront of the kids) I have said its really really bad and will make you poorly etc but she still seems to do it. She is at that stage that what ever you tell her she is more liekly not to listen

Yeah, its a trick of the mind, the more you tell them not to do something more determined they are to do it. God knows. She will grow out of it, it will just be phase. Thats all you can do really is hope she gets away from it.

There is a commercial here in Canada, that has little kids saying drug terms like "powder" and "love drug" and a few others. It is telling parents that there are new terms for drugs that we don't know but our children do.

Well my friends 2 year old now says them all the time because of the commercial.

my god thats awful! I might just have to write a complaint and say it needs to be on a later time , she will be going to pre school in September and would hate her to say anything like that there!

I would send a complaint to the TV standards people. These are important messages to grown ups but don't need to be seen by kiddies, rather goes against the point of the ad!

I have a 3 year old and she picks up on everything at the moment. We always sit her down and talk to her and ask her why she is doing something. Perhaps you could somehow sit with her and watch the advert and explain what is happening and that it is showing how bad smoking is for you.
Hope this helps

Write and complain. Either complain to Watchdog or Ofcom. Agreed they shouldn't be shown at that time of day. After 9pm. I remember that zombie advert for a car got so many complaints they had to make it so the advert only got shown after 9pm. The aim of the advert is to stop parents smoking, as to stop there children picking it up.
