It's so hard isn't it? My furbaby died about 4 years ago and I still miss him like crazy and think about him everyday. Unfortunately, I saw him be run over by a truck, so I have to try hard to make my memories nice ones.
I have anew cat now - I only lasted about 2 months - a house isn't a home wihtout a cat in my eyes.
You poor thing, that must have been horrid. I'm glad that I was able to get to Taz first and cover him before DH saw him.
