We got a quote a couple of weeks ago to get our windows replace, they told us how much it would be we got it down to 5000 plus 60 pound for the survey, we got the survey done and the guy who came round told us that we needed lentils in every window, well when he told me that i weren't impressed because when we had our survey done on the house when we borught it the guy brought up to lentils that needed doing so why the hell didn't he pick up the rest of them, the survey guy from the window company said that the council houses in this area are always like this they don't have any lentils in any of the windows.

Well got a phone cal before telling me how much more it was going to be 3500 grand more to get the lentils done i'm FUMING.

When the survey guy told me that we would need lentils in the whole of the windows i was going to get on to halifax about this. but then decided i couldn't be doing with the hazzle so was going to leave it.

But have this phone call that its going to cost as when we can affoard it its going to cost over 10000 pounds to get the windows done.

SO GOING TO KICK SOME ONES ASES I WANT COMPERSATION FOR THIS THEY SHOULD OF PICKED THIS UP

AGH i wanted new windows we have got crappy aliumain windows that the guy who did a bodge job on the house ruined cos he painted them, and when its blowing a geal out side its also doing it the house.

sorry this is minor compared to other peoples problems. just so bloody annoyed with this, we have had so much crap with this house since we have moved in. no water leaks cos they didn't connect the pipes, bolier not working so had to get a new one, had to buy a new washing machine. toilet system not being fitted properly, back door not opening waht so every roof needed replacing in the garage. radatators not working kacy has been replaced need to get kira's done they are the worst.

AGH wish we had not brought this house. only damn thing we could affoard though, Vicky keep thinking it will be worth it in the end.

Blimey...that's expensive.

Shop around, maybe even get a builder to quote you for the lintels, they can do it whilst your existing windows are in, all they do is take a few rows of bricks away and replace the concrete/steel lintel and re-brick.

I'm going to ask laura's dad to give me a quote get them done and then in a couple of months done get the windows done.

I hate it when things like that happen. I'm just waiting for the conservatory company to come round to tell me how they are going to mend my crappy conservatory they put up in January. As usual - he is late, so am about to phone the company and let rip

On a lighter note - I now have an image of a house made of LENTILS!!!! Sorry to pick this up, but the image in my mind made me giggle all the way through your post. (I really do hope you get it sorted though hun x x )
