I'm Currently Feeling: | anyone work/worked for weatherspoons? I think I am gonna hav to look for a new job :( hi all,
I currently work for mitchells & butlers (its a pub chain if u dont have them in ur areas) but the pub I am in has just been sold. Dunno who to and dunno if I still hav a job really until they come in for a meeting and tell me. My ex partner is the landlord and has been made redundant as the new company wont take on the manager so unless he can find another vacancy within the company and fast, there is no job for him. We have been told that the new company are taking on all the staff but I dont really know if that includes me cuz I am sorta classed as the landlady still (even tho me and ex split a while ago I am still an assistant manager). It is lookin likely that they wont want me either so I am gonna prob end up lookin for another job (booooooooh). Well either that or become a team member again and take a wage cut. I was thinkin of applying for weatherspoons but I have spoke to a few people over the last few days who have advised me against it. They say its a poorly run pub company and that their custom is basically mainly drunks. Rif-raf etc. I always go to weatherspoons for meals etc and quite like it. One lad I know used to work for them and said he would never ever work for them again...
anyone have an opinion?? |

| I used to be a kitchen manager for one. I loved it... but having said that I spent 99% of my time off the floor and had great bunch of staff. As a graded employee I did do the floor every now and then, but only on a close. I managed pubs and clubs for years; and worked in some much worse places. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I worked in a wetherspoon in london part time in the evenings for over a year...and NEVER AGAIN
Ill fitting uniform (they never give you the right size!)
No incentives - they get excited about you receiving a monthly bonus of - wait for - £2.35p!!
They are a very anal in how you must serve and what you say etc
The one i worked in was full of old men and city types and was awful.
They work you to the ground!!!!! (and believe me im not afraid of hard work BUT give a girl a break!)
You dont get to keep your tips!
Until i was pregnant i worked part time in a regular pub and found it so much better - more relaxed and better clientele.
Thats my opinion and to be honest i hate bar work so i may be one sided. Though saying that, my sister loves bar work and now manages a bar and she said she would never work at a wetherspoon again. |
