| Word of advice To anyone who gets child tax credits, please always tell them of any change in circumstance, no matter how small.
I noticed the other day that my benefit was based on when I first had Noah and was on maternety leave from my old job, so it said I worked 25 hours a week, which I havent done in a year now. So Icalled them up and told them that Ihad just stopped working, and I added up all my payslips and told them exactly what I erned this tax year so far. Iasked if this would effect the amount I currently get each week, and they said prob not a lot.
Well yesterday I got a letter in the post saying Ishould have been getting £40 a week not the £10 a week I had been getting, so they just stuck over £1,000 in my bank account in back payments and have increased my monthly amounts!!!
So please, take 2 mins from your day to check your claim form to make sure they are using the most upto date information on you. | | | | Status: Offline

| That's fab!
I'm sure they diddled us over our tax credits, we seemed to get less than everyone else in Ella's first year!! We started off at about £90 a month iirc, then after a couple months it dropped to £70 odd and carried on dropping. I think now she's turned a year we get the standard £50 odd. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bloody hell thats brilliant!!
i might ring them as at the mo they think im working 8 hours a week (this is my part time job as they dont take into account m student bursary etc!) but infact because of all teh hours ive worked as a student i havent had time to work 8 a week and its more like 8 hours a month !! so maybe this would make a difference?! |

| Well half of it will pay for my next year of course fees for my degree. Im doing the second start date in Oct so Ihave some time to settle in with new bub. And the other half will be spent on new clothes once bub is born and I have shead baby weight. SO Ihave plently of time for them to decide they have made a hideous mistake and take it all back again! | | | | Status: Offline

| I am confused.....
We didn't apply for CTC's as we didn't think we would get anything. They wouldn't back date anything for us once we did claim.
Also I thought Gov Agencies only ever Backdated 3mths max. |
