yep, the first time I got preggers, I got told summit similar.... then when I MCd i was told to get back on the pill.... I was also asked how I could have sex when I could barely walk

and asking stupid questions is an insult, it used to make my mum really angry because people used to talk to her as if she was stupid because she was in a chair, she used to shout at them 'ive got a degree you dont need to talk to me like that just cause my bodys wonky dont mean my head is'

no huni, what I'm saying is, there's a stereotype that all crips have a chip on their shoulder and all the rest of it - where really, just like every other stereotype, it's a couple of people in that "bracket" give everyone a bad image/name/whatever and unfortunately it sounds like you had the "pleasure" to meet a huffy sod. sorry for the crossed wires.

Im perfectly capable" and went the long way around me to prove a point.
Sorry to answer for MrBum - He's off cooking dinner atm, but he is never rude to anybody like that, and never would be (despite that so many people are so rude to him for no reason other than that he's in a wheelchair!). He's always very grateful when people acknowledge that he needs to space to get through somewhere, as all too often people don't even think and just stand right in the way (like in the middle of a narrow aisle in the stores so that he can't get around). I'm always grateful too, if I'm pushing him, or if I'm out with a wheelchair.

It does annoy me how so many people think that crips have a chip on their shoulder because of the actions of the odd few who do - It's like, there are some disabled people who think that all walking folk are inconsiderate and rude, because the odd few are, when really there are people like me and you, Elli, who recognise other's needs for space and a path through, and for privacy, too.

He will no doubt reply in his own words later, I can't say that this is his view, or what he would reply, it's just kinda me replying on his behalf as he's away from teh computer if that makes sence. I think Mynxie hit the nail right on the head with her response.
