Let me first say in my experience with social services they are a waste of space,well they are where we live!

My stepson who we have custody of came back from his mums with a cigarette burn once on his back and once on his hand.....we reported it both times and they just said its tit for tat because of the acrimony between us all!! I couldnt believe it!!

I think social can only respond to cases like that if they have a couple of phone calls etc.

However if a 3rd party(housing officer/police etc) witnesses any dodgyness in connection with the child they have to call in social services to act immediately.

I think if you are really concerned totally deep down and that all they are doing in their lives is affecting the child then the next time they fight loudly etc call the police as long as you do it anonymously and they wont work out its you

i have started calling the police everytime they argue, when i called social services they mentioned some thing about their health visitor saying some thing too...so hopfully they will do something...it sounds horrid but im moving in a week its not going to be my problem much longer
