Each to their own on this one, I guess.
As beliefs of this sort tend to be very strong, and so very diverse as well - so extremely opposite, it is always going to be a challenge to try and see things from the viewpoint of someone who's beliefs on the matter differ to yours, or to understand how someone can believe something totally opposite to your own beliefs and concepts on the these matters.
Something that is plain-to-see to one person, can easily baffle and seem batently wrong to another. Sometimes it's best just to live and let lie on these matters... If you're really interested in what he's beliefs are and how / why he believes what he does, maybe the best route would be to sit down with him one day and discuss it - ask him what exactly he believes and why - It might help to put things into a light you can better understand them in. Alternatively you may learn that your husband holds beliefs that you just simply cannot comprehend. That is not necessarily a bad thing.
Hope someone can give you an answer that you are looking for here, and one that helps you to understand where your husband is coming from (if you even can).
I won't be able to offer much help in the way of understanding
how someone can believe that there is nothing after life as my views are similar (although not exactly the same) as yours, so I do not get the belief that 'once you die you are dead' either.
You made your original post yesterday morning: Have you come any closer to understanding his viewpoint yet?
