I'm Currently Feeling: | Straw keeps the fruit off the soil so they dont spoil with the wetness and stops some of the bugs/insects.
Im no pro though im afraid the best book about them i found which is a bit like my granddads methods is the percy thrower type ones from the 60's and 70's lol you might be able to pick one up in a charity shop or ebay? http://www.littlehamptongazette.co.u...rop.3395234.jp

I'm Currently Feeling: | Bloody hell Layla - you've put my plot to shame!!! That's brilliant!. But in my defence, we're in a new-build house with a tiny garden and no room for a greenhouse!!!
And Sonny - your granddad looks lovely - a right character!
Charlie decided to help me plant some more radish seeds this afternoon, I've now got organic compost all over the patio!!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | No, it's not just you Layla. I look outside and see those pots full of lettuce, and I definitely get that warm wiggly feeling!!
I bought a growbag a couple of weeks ago, and it's just sitting on the patio!! Any idea what to put in it - I don't want tomatoes coz I've got them. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I used to grow my own tomatoes, - if we had somewhere that we could grow veg, I would, - but I can't get into the yard now |

I'm Currently Feeling: | We had a small potato patch in our old garden. Tried spinach but the slugs ate it constantly. Now we've moved house we've just taken up the concrete driveway (about a third of the garden space) and are waiting for a day when DH is home to fill a skip. Then we can finally get started with some lawn and veg. We're going to have a raised-bed kitchen garden. I want lots of herbs (we had nice herbs in the old garden too) and peas, potatoes, spinach (again) and lettuces. No space for a greenhouse so we're a bit limited. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I did in our last house, carrots on pots, tatties in pots, tomatos, lettice, peppers but our new house has a pants small garden which gets no light, all we grow at the moment is ropey looking grass. |
