I'm Currently Feeling: | A lot of people don't get their anomaly scans until after 20 weeks. I got mine at 22 and a half weeks. If Id found out then that my baby was suffering from something that ultimately would make him have a very short, painful life then I would have ended the pregnancy. if the limit was lowered to 20 weeks, I wouldn't have been able to do that!
The reason I say that is not to take the easy way out of not caring for a disabled baby, because that doesn't bother me in the slightest, I just wouldn't want my child to have a miserable life because of the pain he was in.
I guess this might be why the limit is 24 weeks? Which is probably right.
BUT for any other reason (is it called social reasons?) Id like to see it lowered to maybe 14 or 16 weeks.
Im going to stay away from this now though because I dont think my opinion will be very popular.

I'm Currently Feeling: | Actually Linzi I think your opinion is a very sensible one, that a lot of people would agree with. I was basically trying to convey the same thing.
I confess to not knowing the ins out outs of the UK law... but for some reason I always thought the limit was 14 weeks for "social" reasons and that 24 weeks is for the serious health (baby or Mum) reasons? Anyone able to clear that up?? |

| I'm very prochoice. However, I think it's ridiculous when the woman needs to actually give birth to a still born baby to get it out. I think 16weeks max is more fair. | | | | Status: Offline

Anyone able to clear that up?? | No. i watched a documentory the other week and a 17 year old wqas talking about how she aborted at 24weeks. She was 23weeks6days I think and the doc told her she's 'lucky' that she wasn't a day later b/c he wouldn't have performed the abortion. | | | | Status: Offline

Okay Iīll shut up now!!! | It's not really 3 months though. i didn't find out until I was 7 or 8 weeks. It takes 2 weeks to get an appointment taking it up to 10weeks. That's only 2 weeks to decide, not really that long IMO. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I think a maximum of 16 weeks. Whether disabled or not a baby is a baby at 24 weeks. My friend works with severely disbled children and she is completely against abortion due to disability they all are give then best quality of life and some of them are right characters! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I would have smacked the shit out of that girl and the doctor. But aside from that, I think most of use that are not Pro-life for religious reasons will agree that a later abortion could be necessary for major medical problems but that would be a BIG if.
My old boss used abortion as a form of birth control and last I'd spoken to her, she'd had 9. So, they were all early on but in my opinion, that is just wrong and I am pro-choice.
(Sorry if I am all controversial) |

(Sorry if I am all controversial) | Oh yeah. That's disgusting and so very irresponsible. That many abortions will come back and smack her in the face when she becomes infertile.
Honestly, if I go for a scan and find out my baby will be very ill or very disabled (im not talking about downs syndrome b/c thats a very managable disability, I mean more of the likes of baby being in a vegetative state for its whole life) then I'll choose to end my pregnancy. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I agree that it should def be lowered ... 24 weeks is such a long time and its sad that a baby so far developed can be aborted.
Not sure how much by though .. id prob say between 12 and 15 weeks |
