Sorry but im feeling so crap todya as it is then this didnt help so i need to just get it out .

I havnt felt well today as it is.. then i turn up to work ( only a part time job - saturdays because im still at school) and ask to have the 28th of june off as that is my prom night, she turns around and tells me 'no, thats stock take day so we need you', so i said is it possible for me to finish early then, but she sed ' no.. we need to get as much done that day so we cant' then i said well what about if i started earlier then finish earlier ? still no. Shes booked it off as a holiday and the other woman who works there is also off, so it was just me and this other woman. So that really done my head in. I finish work at 4:30pm and have to be at my mates house for the limo pick up at 6. My OH's mother has arranged for someone to come to her house to do my hair and makeup, how the hell am i going to be able to get ready in an hour and a half. Its ridiculous.
another thing is because im doing my exams at school i need to spend alot of time studying. I have the week off after next week and my boss asked me to go in and work tuesday wednesday thursday friday ( aswell as my saturday) and because she really needed me i said yes. But found out midweek that i have a maths revision class at school till 12, so i told her today as i may be a bit late due to the revision, and all she could say was ' well thats good aint it ) .

I know i cant really complain because they havnt actually done anything wrong. Its just really got to me because the prom night is so important to me and i cant even finish a few hours early. Im in a snappy mood as it is and shes just topped it all off nicely.

Now i dont know whether to pack my job in completely ( have to give a months notice so mention it now ) or just not turn in that day anyway. Either way, i have to have the day off, ive already brought my prom stuff so im not letting it go to waste.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

That is awful! Your prom night is a very important time in your life and you should not miss it. And if you do, you will regret it and will definitely think of it for years.

I know yeah. I really dont want to miss it. Especially not now ive brought my dress, paid for my limo and so on.

Theres nothing that i can do though. I mean ive been thinking for a while to quit my job now and get a better one, im getting paid minimum wage so im getting crap money too. But im going to go to her in the week after school one day and take a letter of resignation with me, and just say like look is there anyway i can have the saturday off or finish at dinner time, ive been as nice as i can and said id work over a day before or whatever but she was having none of it, and if she wont let me then i will say then well sorry but im handing this letter in and whatnot, ill stay with them untill the week before my prom which is still 6 weeks away to give them enough time to get someone else, but after that im gone and can at least now start looking for a new job.

Im just gutted ): everything seems to be getting to me today. Ive just cried my eyes out because i broke my clothes hanger thing haha ! i think it was just a build up of everything !

If youve said you'd go in earlier and she said no thats seriously unfair!!

Is there no one higher than her that you can speak to?

I think your best bet is going to be trying to wangle to leave earlier than to get the whole time off.

ive said id go in earlier and do what needs to be done.

ive said id work extra on the sunday

ive said everything i possibly could.

Shes my manager.

there is the area manager which is the one who is in charge of all the shops in the city.. whether it would be worth phoning her im not sure.

You never know until you try. I would give her a call and hopefully she will be more helpful.

I'd give her a call... remember a job is just a job and the prom and exams... hell - they're more important by far. If she's booked off as holiday then why isn't she working as its "sooooo important" ('scuse sarcasm).

She's trying to use you as cheap labour... tell them you can't do the shifts revision week... call in sick... if she has a problem with it offer to take it to company head office that she was bullying you...

I think your employer is being totally unreasonable... how old are you hun??! you say your still at school... maybe have a look at employment rights behind school workers!?
your prom is way more important than a part time job and 6 weeks notice is enough time!!! If you are forced to leave over this you may have a case for "constructive dismissmal" I think its called!!! My employer annoys me too lol so Im hot on taking these companies to the cleaners Hope it works out for you.... xxxx

I did consider calling head office.. but ive heard she is meant to be a right bitch.. so i dont know if thatll make things worse ?

Ill still give it a try.. ive got nothing to loose.

As for the week half term... i will work those days but only because i need the money. im asking to book the saturday after off as i have a big big exam on teh monday so saturday will be my only day to revise.

no way is she making me work the full day. Whatever it takes. Im going in to speak to her in the week so will let you all know how i get on
