Didn't know where to post this, but needed to talk

Almost 14 Years ago, my older brother commited suicide. Its always been a very hard thing for me to come to terms with, infact i doubt i ever fully will.
Anyhow, all these years later, a letter arrves at my mum & dads, from his premium bond enclosing a cheque for him for £50 that he had won.
I guess in the heat of things at the time it never got cancelled, but the hardest thing is he never won anything in his whole life, and i mean zilch, nada!!!!
It really hurt to get that out of the blue, and makes me realise i don't ever cope with it, just somehow get by and on with life.
My mum is now rushing to try and cancel it, because £50 was bad enough, but imagine if it was alot more, that would be so hard to deal with, since he isn't here to claim what is his.

Sorry to be so down, just needed to get it out!!!

Its understandable... if I may humbly suggest... take the money and give it to a cause you know he'd want to have supported?

big hugs for you. I can understand its hard... thinking of you.

Oh darling, I don't think it's ever something you can be expected to "get over", you just learn to live with it, but sometimes of course it all comes rushing back as yesterday. I can't begin to imagine losing a sibling like that, but my heart goes out to you xxxxxxxx

That is such a nice idea, but sadly my mum asked about it because she wanted to put it towards having his headstone revamped so to speak, but it cannot be cashed by anyone other than him, so now i just hope the money will go back into the pool for premium bonds and be won by someone else who has never who anything. Thanks for the lovely reply

Thank you, its something i would hate to see anyone go through. I'm lucky in the respect i have a friend who is an ex work colleague of mine, who grew up with him. Its nice to share stories, and sadly she lost her brother in a car crash so too knows how tough it is. She is my rock at times

Congrats on your win!!! Its good to hear good news.
It is sad people can't claim the deceased's money, but i can understand it i guess.
he hardest part for me is i was only 9, so there is so much he has missed out on seeing me do, like getting married and hopefully soon having a baby.
I like to think though that he is still watching me from afar
