| I couldn't really read this thread and not reply. I am for the most part pro-choice, but I think the limit should be 9-10 weeks tops except on SOME medical grounds as some complications of course arent found till later stages of pregnancy.
However, I had a slightly disturbed angle on the topic, I was raped, at the begining of my teens, and chose to have an abortion (albeit at 5 weeks) as I just couldn't deal with the situation at all.
It has affected me every single day of my life, I have never regretted my decision, but it has changed who I am. I couldn't do it now, mostly because I am desperate for a baby, but also because I know the mental turmoil I went through the first time.
How anyone can consider using abortion as a form of contraception is beyond me, mostly because if you are responsible and mature enough to be having sex, then you are esponsible and mature enough to use contraception.
I feel like part of the problem in the UK is the poor sex education that children receive, and also the fact that is it still a taboo subject in homes. I know of plenty of my friends younger brothers and sisters who feel like their parents would rather tell them off for even talking about the issue, than provide them with advice.
Rant over, I just have a very strong view on abortion, and struggle to understand how a woman can go through that and feel no remorse whatsoever? |
