I didn´t know it was on fortunately! A girl I know over here has just been back to her native Romania for an abortion at 4 months (not sure how many weeks she was) because they wouldn´t do it here in Spain.

I think that 2 months is long enough to decide whether you want to keep a baby or not, 8 weeks is a long time. Having said that I´m pro-choice, but not just to use it as a form of contraception.

I think it should be done before 6 weeks if not for medical reasons. Seeing my little munchkin at 7+2 with her little heartbeat was enough to make me feel sick at the thought of people getting them done after that.

Obviously medical reasons are different.

So I am getting that there was no medical reason for these late term abortions? That is horrible, at 23 weeks, there was PLENTY of time before to make that decision. Ugh, horrible. Having said that, I am pro-choice. I can understand a 2nd trimester abortion IF there is something terribly wrong with the baby that would give it a very poor quality of life. How very sad.

Obviously there are cases where people dont find out they are pregnant until late inthe first tri but surely not until they are 23 weeks. In the UK you would really really struggle to get an abortion at 24 weeks (the legal limit) on the NHS. IF you notice on that program most of them were done privatly.

The legal limit is 24 weeks but that needs two doctors signature and is supposed to be for medical reasons (although this can include risk of mental damage to the mother)

There is a bill going through parliament at the mo to reduce the legal limit to 20 weeks but in my opinion it should be reduced right down to 12/14 weeks and only ever be done higher if there is a GENUINE medical reason.

I clearly want this baby and abortion never entered my mind but if i was going to do it, the earlier the better surely...and certianly not when the baby would have a chance at survival if born at that stage.

I was going to watch this out of curiousity but was tired lol!!!

Glad now cos Im sure I would have got very very mad!!! Its weird because on bank hol monday me and a couple of work mates were having a discussion about abortion!! Me and my "mummy friend" was saying how its sooooo bad that I could at that point still legally have an abortion!! Then another girl whose younger than me and no children was just like "yeh its fine!" I was like "but i feel my baby kick, move etc... she is a little person!" We were saying how we felt that abortion that late was like murder!"

The girl who had a different view was saying "what if you had been raped?" "what if something happens to your OH?" (which i responded with...all the more reason to keep our baby) and she also felt like some women take 5 months to realise their decision!!! I really dont understand her mentality round this..... how could you go 5 and half months "deciding" on whether you wanted the baby!!! Its just stupid!!
The next day front page of daily mail... mps are battling about reducing the cut off to 20 weeks!!! Due to the fact Baby can feel pain at 18 weeks etc etc!!
I think even 20 weeks is too high....!!!
The youngest baby to ever survive is 21 weeks or something!!!
Abortions make me feel really queasy!!!

I was having this discussion after me and my boyfriend watched it. I asked him what his opinion was and he said he really dislikes abortions but he would leave it to me to make the ultimate decision. When he asked me I answered if we had been using protection and something had gone wrong and I got pregnant when I wasn't really ready I would only even CONSIDER an abortion when it was about a week - 2 weeks old (ie still a blob of cells) and even then I prob would still go ahead with it because the decision would be so hard. But no way after it had started to grow into a recognisable human being. And certainly not after I'd felt it kick!

I am very much pro choice if the pregnancy was a total accident and it's in the very early stages. But people using it to get rid of the baby because they couldn't be arsed to use contraception? They should be shot

I watched it was horrible. Can't remember which lady it was but she said she could feel the baby kick before she had the abortion, why leave it so late to decide on wanting one?!?

I personally would not have one, but i think people should be able to make there own decisions, i also think they should bring the time limit of having one WAY down. A friend on mine was raped and she had a termination and i fully supported her on her decision, it was right for her. Maybe some people are stronger and could deal with a sitution like that.

The woman who had four abortions was a disgrace, has she not heard of contraception?!?!

It was the one who already had the 2 kids and who was getting the abortion for the programme who said she felt it kick. Nothing like leaving it til the last minute! Some people make me so angry! She knew it was in there long before it started to be able to kick, why not get the balls and make the decision before it got so well developed? Grr!

Several years ago I had to end a friendship with a long term friend b/c at the time she was 20 and had already had 4 abortions. She would always "forget" to take her birth control pill and wind up pregnant. It made me sick that she thought of abortion as a form of birth control.
I am pro-life mainly b/c of my situation and the thought that an aborted baby could be adopted by loving parents who are unable to conceive on their own, but I know certain circumstances are the exception (rape, etc)
Sorry if I offended anyone - very touchy subject!
