Totally Off Topic Question....

I know totally wrong forum to be posting this on but i thought since I'm registered some people might know.

Just wondering...for those who have been to Uni...
GCSEs don't count for points do they? And you have to have at least 2 years of 6th form or college experience right?

Thanks for your help

To my knowlege no GCSE's dont count however if you do have GCSE's you can do a College conversion course called an access course which boosts up you memory on what you have done and can be just 1 year I think. I myself did it the traditional 2 yea in college but I know that you can run your A levels along side your AS levels at some colleges on some courses condesing the college time to just 1 year.

I am doing an Access course for the specific thing I want to study at Uni, which I think is a real bonus. A-levels do count but GCSEs don't for sure as they have not readied you for the level of study needed at Uni. x

no studying for GCSE is a far cry from Uni.

I did a foundation year in human biology, it was the first year in a 4 year course and is classed as a level 0.

I used it to do nursing. I did think that because I had GCSE's and a level 4 NVQ I would get onto the degree faster, but no.

I am glad of it though, I was totally unprepared for uni, and the foundation course taught me how to study, reference, write essays and reports and use a computer.

Without it I wouldn't have had a clue

I'm aiming to go to uni in a few years time to study midwifery and I only have my GCSE's so far - They don't count as UCAS tarrif points, but A levels are not the only way forward; I'm doing an access course at my local adult college - but you have to be a mature student to do an access course (19+)...

Certainly don't rule out university from your future if it is what you want to do! Failing all else you can complete A-levels to get the UCAS points at a later date (either part time at college or with open university from home).

Good luck! x
