All of my companies laptops are Dell, and they're really robust and have had no problems.

If you buy a home version like the Inspiron as I did for Tam a few years back we had little or no problems for most parts but the last 6months were awful motherboards, Power Supply connector, etc.

Now Warranties run out and the PS connectors messing up again.

Tam's usin me old work one for now, with it's screen half hangin off!!!

See I do abuse my work laptops! and they still go.

I would recommend a DELL LATITUDE to anyone!

Sony's are a bit on the rich side for the performance you get, most big makes are fine for home users!

Don't waste a grand when a few hundred will do, it'll be obsolete by Xmas.

Iwas always told to go for a Dell Latitude by everyone who knows about computers. But to pricy so went for a Dell Inspiron. I find it really sturdy and well built and have no problems, plus its bkue and looks funky!

Cat Tam has an Inspiron 5150, it's blue but too big and heavy she's very picky!

I find I pay much less (through work) for my latitudes than I paid for Tams Imspiron and my work machines are more powerfull but not a big screens.

Onlu issue we had is the power supply connector and Tam spilling drinnk on the machine.

I've got a Dell laptop and my OH has an Acer, they're both crap. Mine is less than 2 years old and some of you will know the crap i had with it a while ago...

it just died and i was about £3000 on phone bills to Dell and over a week without a computer before they finally took it away and had to redo the Operating System so i lost everything.

The Acer one is just rubbish lol
