Yeah I know what you mean Becky perhaps I was too harsh by saying that it wasn't very realistic, but I just felt that it wasn't. Most of the stuff we see in soaps and believe me I know because I watch both Eastenders and Coronation Street but, they are magnified realities. They over exaggerate them to make them more interesting for the viewers when in real life they are probably not like that at all. I feel that some soaps try to frighten you and showing Maria like that was not very supportive for all the mums to be because it would frighten them. Probably one of the worst things you can be when you are pregnant is frightened or stressed. I believe that was part of the reason why I had pre-eclampsia because my cat got killed and I had to cope with that so late on with my pregnancy.

I think you are missing my point.

What I am trying to say is for you to repeatedly say its not realistic when someone who actually went though this took the time to tell you she felt it was, could be seen as being insensitive and unecessarily harsh.

If someone commented on your personal experience of when you were in hospital with pre-eclampsia and repeatedly said 'but surely thats not how it actually is' I think you'd find that difficult to read. You've shared your experience and no one has shot it down as unrealistic.

If it should be portrayed on TV or not is a totally different subject.
