I know we shouldn't judge but its hard not to in a case like this. I would NEVER leave my children alone, especially as young as Maddy and her siblings were. Could the children not go with them? Its a holiday destination, surely children are welcome anywhere??!!
Like Leanne, i find it really hard to look past that. But again, no parent should have to go through the heartache of losing a child. Especially not knowing whether they are alive or not.
They know that they made a mistake, one which they'll have to live with for the rest of their lives. So all we can do now is support them. Putting them down and telling them they were wrong is not going to change what happened now.

I hope maddy is safe and well, wherever she is.

They were wrong to leave her, but theres no way any parents deserve to go through that. We all make mistakes. Guaranteed, it sounds like this wasn't the first time it had happened, but all the same. I hope when the little girl turns up they get charged with something... Im sure it's illegal to leave kids that young on their own.

I didnt watch the programme last night, too upsetting.

I admit when the story first came out I was angry with the parents, and thought they should be punished for leaving the children alone like they did, and my opinion was that they were responsible for whatever had happened to Maddy.

Nearly a year on, I just feel desperatly sorry for them and the twins, I still live in hope that Maddy will be found.

They may never know what happened to their daughter, this will be their cross to bear for the rest of their days.....punishment enough.

Any punishment imposed on them by the courts will have a direct impact on the twins, and they have been through enough already, and I doubt if Kate and Gerry will ever take chances, like leaving the kids alone, ever again.

I pray that wherever Maddy is, the angels are with her.

I agree that her parents should have watched their kids,the hotel they we're staing had a daycare,a nanny available and they still left them alone...

I'm hoping they find her...

its hard its really really sad, they shouldn't have left her i wouldn't leave young children alone to pop to the shops or what ever in this country let alone another its a shame that the little girl is prob suffering because of their actions if she is found theres no tell what might have happened to her theres to many sick people in this world.

I watched them on This Morning and it's the first time I've seen the mother show any emotion watsoever. It was very hard to watch.

I think she's still alive. And I hope they find her soon.

I don't want to judge them as i'm sure they've been through enough, i feel really sorry for the family..but i'm sooo very confused as to why and how they could even think about leaving there kids so young. They're clearly intelligent people, they are doctors for goodness sake but they clearly left there brains at work whilst on holiday. I hope that Maddy is safe and found soon but the parents where very irresponsible that eve.

My mum's been ripping her hair out as she's had reporters at her house as she used to look after Madeline at her nursery. My OH also knows them as he used to live in Rothley leics. x
