It is standard that most vets will spay cats if they are pregnant, i have elped with an number of speys where the owners didnt know they were preg. But there is an increased risk of bleeding post op.
If Pets at home have only removed one uterine horn, then somewhere in there is still an ovary and uterine horn releasing hormones, so yes sghe probably is in season. The vets should have told you that there was only one horn.
Chances are that they have emplyed a newly qualified vet with no-one else there to help him, appart from i hope a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
I would be complaining to head office and getting them to pay for any further treatment needed.. especially if the other vet can find no abnormalties.
As for the abortion thing it is regularly done, the worst thing is when the owner knows damn well their cat is pregnant and they leave it till the last minute to get it sorted (at their cost!!) and having to put down almost full term kittens. But you'd be surprised how quickly the cat returns to normal.
The 'morning after pill' for dogs has to be give and a number of intervals and is not guaranteed. to work.
