Shocked at a mum at nursery!

Ok I wouldn't say I was a majorly overprotective mum, I just worry about 'normal' things that concern most parents but what I saw at the nursery today imo was shocking.

I'd picked Oscar up and was strapping him into his car seat when I'd clocked a car pulling up next to mine, when I'd finished I looked up to see if it was anyone I knew and seeing a small baby I would say around 3 months old I realised I didn't recognise the woman.

So I get in my car and reverse out and look up to see the woman walking half way up the path to the nursery already. Natural reaction I was thinking 'damn she's organised' as she would have had to have got her baby out of the car seat, crossed the road from the car park to the nursery AND opened the first gate already. Then it hit me, I couldn't see her carrying her baby.

I look over into the car (that the woman has her back to) and low and behold there is the baby awake still sitting in their car seat

I mean surely this isn't the thing to do???? I get nervous at the idea of leaving Oscar locked in the car even at the petrol station (hence why I always use pay @ pump)

I wouldn't either but my OH doesn't think about things like this and it does my head in.

for example, i forgot something after we had been at the checkouts at tesco so i ran back to get the item whilst he put the shopping and amelie in the car. When I'm doing it, i unload shopping whilst shes in the trolley, take the trolley back, lift her out and walk back to the car with her. When I was walking to the car i saw him putting the trolley back and amelie was in the car alone! it was quite a walk away too and he obviously had his back to her. I was not impressed.

I have always put my children in the car at the supermarket before putting the trolley back. Not least as my youngest didn't walk until three years old and was flipping heavy to carry with a bad back. I am now expecting twins, and there is no way I can realistically carry two babies safely from the trolley to the car, so therefore much safer to put the babies in the car first. Trolley parks are never that far from the car and the car is always in view.

I am more than happy to leave the children in the car at petrol stations, but do always lock the car, but I generally wouldn't leave them if they were out of sight or of an age where they were old enough to possibly open the car doors, but not old enough to realise why they shouldn't.

I was sat in th ecar outside Asda a while ago and a woman left her two children, about aged 2-3 in the car for about half an hour while she was in the shop. They were also eating Happy Meals. That is disgusting, they could have choked, and they could have opened the car and got out.

TBH Its a bit over protective i think, I would leave holly in tghe car if i was just popping somewhere, like pay for petrol, post box etc its not worth distrubing her to get her out, she in her car seat so i know shes safe. x

I do it. If my LO is happy in his car seat, I don't want to disrupt him. If the car is parked and locked and I'm only 2 minutes, I think it is ok. I wouldn't leave him if I was going far from the car (more than 20 metres or so) BUT I did leave him while I parked and ran to the chemist, across the road and about 50m up the hill - he was sleeping and I was reluctant to disturb him, but when I saw the queue, I ran back to the car and got him!

Im going to go against the grain here, I have left Charlotte in the car while I have dropped Chloe off Chloe was still in nursery while I was on mat leave but obv Charlotte wasn't. It is a nightmare trying to hold a baby, get shoes off, slippers on, jacket off, lunch in the kitchen and try and escape from a 2yr old arms wrapped around your legs.........
