A good family car?

So the oh and I are in the market for a new car, our only specifications are that it is a 5-door and we have 1200 to spend. We currently have a 3-door Fiat Punto and it's a nightmare getting the carseat in and out of the back! We were thinking of something along the lines of a golf/focus/ibiza. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations??

Corsa or Astra?dunno what condition they will be in for that price though!!
I wouldnt go for a golf coz you wont get alot for your money imo!!
Focus or Fiesta too maybe?

its only got to do us a year really so as long as it runs i dont care! i agree with the golf comment, wishful thinking!! was thinking maybe a scenic too.

i had a scenic, they are great, im sure if you shop around you will get 1 for the money, diesel is better, but they tend to be more expensive
