Last night my cat, went into labour ... (maybe a bit upsetting)

And only gave birth to one kitten, sadly it was all ready dead, when i got closer to try and help (clean its mouth etc) i found it was disfigured, it had no face as such, and its bottom half wasn't even fully there, What I'm wondering is... Should i be worried that she only had one kitten, (even tho it passed away) .. she is in a perfectly good mood tho, so i don't know what to do ?! .. seems odd to only have one, i tried google and people had said on some websites about kittens having lost one, then a few weeks later giving birth?! that sounds silly to me! but i wanted to ask .... ? ...

id ring up your local vet and maybe take her to see what they say ? what have you done with the kitten? x

This happened to my cat Phoebe in 2005, she had 1 baby, then laboured all day and no more babies appeared, i called the vets, she had an emergency section, and she had 4 more babies, 1 of the kittens had got stuck in the birth canal and had passed away and stopped her labour progressing.

If i was you i would call the vet and they will scan her, is her tummy lumpy or soft.

Aww sorry to hear about your cat and kitten.

Definately ring the vet and have her checked over...as someone said there maybe other "stuck" and then it can cause all sorts of infections and problems.

I would also take the kitten along too and see if they want to check it over...also they can take it if you arent into doing burrials.

Hope your cat is doing ok....so sad.

this mite sound silly but .... dont put it in the ground yet the vet mite want to see? not sure tho but if its not developed? i would get to the vets asap just incase theres more kittens just stuck somewhere and need some assistance, hope your okay xxx

That does sound odd. When my cat had kittens, she had 1 and didn't have the other 4 until the next day but we could see the kittens moving inside her tummy still.

Shame about the poor kitten
