computor game violence (does it effect kids behaver)

me and my oh have been talking and getting in a bit of a debate about it.
i have said i dont want lo to play computor games that are to old for him because the violance is to much when he gets older but he thinks its fine and says its just a game.
But i have a nephew and he is 10 and plays games way to old for him and he is running around with play guns and puting at my head he has learnt swear woods of them. i wouldnt buy my child a porno at 10 nowing its an 18 so why is a computor game alright.
anyone have any thoughts to help us out?

I was watching a study where they had a group of kids who played video games and it showed them to not be as caring after they had played them

You wouldnt let a ten year old watch an 18 film, so why would you with a game?? I personally wont let my lo play any games that are too old for her, she will have to wait untill she is the right age.

My child won't be playing anything of the sort until they reach the age that is given on the box. If it's an an 18 so be it. Like that for a reason IMO.

I did about this in my psychology degree and there is a hell of a lot of research to say that that there is a link!

Let's face it... there are more crimes happening nowadays with the outburst of violent video games than there was 50 years ago!

true but a thousand other things could have contributed to that, not video games alone

violent video games do affect children negatively.
