Help with passport issue.

We got Bethanie's passport when she was about 6 months maybe, now she looks completely different obviously. Do I have to get a renewal for her??

Thanks!

it is valid for 5 years... most border controls acknowledge babies change, particularly if the names all line up - visa applications (e.g. asia) can be a little funny but quite often they're ok.

Depending on where you are planning to go, I'd say 90% of the time not to worry.

My mother got my brother's passport 2 years ago and he's changed a lot... I don't think its a problem.

We're going to Spain, so I imagine it'd be fine. Just find it hard to understand how I could be taking anyones child away with me and using Bethanie's passport.. how are they to know??

I don't mind renewing it in 5 years of course, but we go away in June.. so wanted to make sure it was still ok to use.

If in doubt, give the passport office a call... but certain features line up - my photo in my passport is not exactly the best (which reminds me - I must get it renewed next year!)

Tilly its fine - Its valid for 5 years from issue no matter how much she changes....which is ridiculous really isn't it?

-Frankie had her passport when she was 6 weeks old and obviously looks nothing like it now! - I think the passport control officers just look for the basics, like ethnicicity (sp?) for example it would be quite obvious if your baby was white on the passport pic and afro carribean in real life....Other than that I don't think they check a lot physically, they just scan the passport to make sure nothing is flagged on the system.

Thanks everyone and thanks Rachie, I was worried that I was going to have to rush about and pay more money before we went.
