Does anyone play Facebook games? I have questions, please help if you can! :)

Can Facebook games charge you money?

I have never used one myself but my OH's phone (which is in my name and charged to our joint account) has about £500 of charges over the last 3 months, which I've tracked back to being for online gaming. He plays a lot of Facebook games.

If they do charge you, would you say it would possible to incur charges by accident or without realising?

Sorry I sound really dumb, can you tell I'm trying very hard to believe him when he says he knows nothing about the charges

Normally you sign up for the charges, buy credits as it were for the games, although that is an extra to the majority of the games. I'm not sure it can happen accidentally tbh, you would have to type in your details.

as far as I'm aware - it cant happen accidently - to pay for the extra credites metioned above, you have to click through loads of stuff, enter your mobile number, which it sends a text to, and you have to reply back with a confirmation... and at every stage it tells you that yuo're going to be charged anything from £5 - £50 a pop

they are free to play but you can pay for extra 'Facebook Cash' or credits etc but you have to enter card details etc x

no it wouldnt be by accident
you can use phone, direct debit, credit/debit card or paypal for some of them - but for each optiion you would been well aware of what you were doing

... You CAN enter your credit card info to buy extra points. They DO need your permission for every purchase though!

I play facebook games all the time. Don't enter any personal information when you play them, or they could charge you! Following those rules, I've saved myself probably hundreds of dollars.

Ah right. My OH says he has entered personal information

but he swears he didn't do it for payment. Surely that's dodgy, if he didn't intend them to take money from him.

They dont ask for it when you play the games,you have to click a little tab at the top of the game to get more credits etc and then they ask for card details etc x

even just entering personal details, if they are taking money they make it very clear, they dont try to con people x
