Painful Ovulation, mittelschmerz

Does anyone else suffer with this.. I used to get before I had my boy one night I was adament I had apendicitis but then after a few hours it seemed to ease off.
After having my little chap it seemed to go abit and then last month and this month ive had it quite bad.I could tell you what side I am ovulating from as the pain swaps from each side each month.

It kind of feels like trapped wind but more intense and isolated to very lower left or right hand side. (I know it's not trapped wind) and it gets worse if I move around.

I have had some investigations a few years ago to rule out cyts on my overies and I was sent for an internal scan but they didnt find any abnormalities. Im wondering if I should go back to the docs and see if there is anything they can do?

They call it mittelschmerz (middle pain in German) and aparently it is quite common, but its just so painful that last night I was close to tears.
It happens when your ovary releases an egg, it has to break out of the ovary so sometimes some blood can occur and this irritates the walls of the abdomen the eventually its re absorbed into the body.

Does anyone else suffer from this and if you do what do you do to help? Maybe there is some magic trick I dont know about

Any help would be grately recieved. Thanks. x

I always felt when I ovulated but I don't remember it being as bad as yours sounds, paracetamol always helped me and it only lasted a few hours anyway. Sorry, that wasn't much help was it?

I get this, too.
I usually treat it the same way I would period cramps: a relaxing herbal tea and either a hot water bottle or a magic bag heated up in the microwave. It usually works for me, but I don't know if I would describe mine as quite as intense as yours.

Im having it right now..it's annoying!! I only ever get it on the left side, my right ovary is wrecked because of endoand I doubt its ever worked ...it can be really painful! Painkillers and a hot water bottle usually help settle it tho

Yes! I get this on my left side and it woke me up at 5 am this morning, I couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour as it was so painful and uncomfortable. I find a hot water bottle helps ease the pain and I don't like to take any medication due to TTC. It can be sooo painful.

I don't mind though, as it lets me know everything is in good working order down there

I had some tests to make sure everything was fine, as I kept getting the pain, and my ultrasound scan was normal and showed that I had ovulated.

Best of luck,
Ali
