Just wanted to add that my cat barfed all over Simon's baby quilt yesterday and I swore horribly and it did make me feel much better. The cat looked impressed, so I may have gotten through to him, too! There's a time and a place?

I swear a lot in work and at home tbh Fin is just starting to copy everything so I dont do it around him (not since I accidentally said sh*t and he copied me) but tbh I am a good person with good morals and I know my son will be the same - he goes to nursery an only last week they told me he one of the only ones that says please and thankyou all the time and has excellent manners - I think there are worse things than swearing but agree its not nice when you hear older children saying it - especially when they are at an age when they should know better

I really try not to swear, I don't swear alot anyway, only if angry or i've hurt myself, but i'll usually say something like sugar or damn! My OH though is a different story, he swears alot and always has done, his mum is the same so its just habit for him now! It drives me mad lol he does really really try and he is very good with it now, will usually only swear if he knows the boys can't hear, although he does slip up sometimes! My boys do know there are 'naughty' words and that only adults can say them. Im sure they'll hear them all in school at some point!

I must say, I'm terrible at the moment Mum keeps berating me for it - "HE CAN HEAR YOU, YOU KNOW..."
Yes mother...

I really need to nip my nasty habit in the bud, it's going to cause nothing but problems

x

Im guilty of swearint tbh, but I do try and curb it. However I do think kids are more likely to use the 'naughty' word if you make a big deal about not saying them. at least in my experience they do.

My dad swears lots, i think the F word is part of his language. I blame him being irish! lol He says it with out even realising, he said it all through my childhood, but i never used it. I just knew that it was an adult word. Same with my sister, her kids never picked up and used her bad language. Not saying it's right but also using it doesn't mean you will have a foul mouthed child!

i dont know why but im actually getting worse
im even using a new word.
none of these in front of my son but if i do it when hes not there im bound to slip and say something when he is. even though he doesnt talk yet i need to rehabilitate myself.
i used to mostly say it in my head but now i say out loud.
is there a cure?

I don't swear really, I do when I am typing, but it's not often they come out my mouth, if I swear it is infront of Darren and is the really horrible C's & T's but I only say it joking and the baby is never around, I won't swear infront of adults I know I am 20 but I just think that anyone could know my Mum and tell her i swear so I don't I got really embarressed the otehr day because in the hairdressers I said 'Oh yeah it was a great night I was so pissed..oooops' not that I'm embarressed to swear, just because i know the people knew my mum. My stepdad is known by his neices and nephews as 'The F man'
