Reaching the end of my tether with the cats!!!

I have to kitties, that we rescued last summer, they are just reaching 12months, and we have kept them as house cats the whole time we have had them.
Well since moving house they seem to think they can wee/poo anywhere they want! My OH cleans there cat lit out every evening, but that still isn't good enough for them
before we moved they ALWAYS used the litter, no problem what so ever, while we was stopping at OH's parents house, they used the litter.
They also had a cat who used to go outdoors, and my 2 kitties used to run for it as soon as the front door opened,
so im wondering, do you think they are playing up when it comes to using there litter because they want to be outside? Or could it be because they can feel im pregnant and its confusing them?
They do go at and sit at the door and meow to go out, but we've never planned on them being out door cats, especially around here. We have dogs either side of us and cats are known for going "missing" around here :/
The male has been done, but the female hasn't yet really considering after she is done in letting them out, but I will be so upset if they dont return one day, they are my babies after all

How long ago did you move and did it start as soon as you moved in? It could be that, and definitely could be the hormonal changes during your pregnancy as well....There might have been other animals/cats before you and that cats are working on marking their territory (though mostly have heard of them doing this with just pee, not poo). That would be aggravating for sure!

we moved about 3-4 weeks ago now, when we first moved in they constantly meowed, I said that they was doing that because my nan's spirit likes to be here, can always spell her rose perfume, and animals can detect spirits.
Before us, I think there was a cat and a dog and before them a dog. Almost certain there was a cat since the dog. Its where my mum used to live and then rented out for a year or so and the last couple had a cat.
Luckily they haven't done anything on our new carpets yet, just in the rooms where its bare floor boards, and the dining room which is still the old carpet and just now in the paper basket!
But we are getting our new landing and stairs carpet pretty soon, and putting the laminate flooring down in the nursery over the next month so i'm praying they stop before the carpet goes down at least, Iv already started to shut them out of the room that will be the nursery.
I feel really bad because i'm having to shut them out of all the rooms and atm they only have the living room and hallway.

Oh wow, I would definitely say it's a moving in issue and marking their territory due to the previous animals then, seeing as your move is so recent. I think they're adjusting to a lot of big changes and sometimes this is how they express it. Shame on them little stinkers. Hopefully when they settle out a bit more it will help. Getting new flooring will probably help eliminate the previous animals' smell quite a bit, and might be worth looking into getting a good shampoo and clean of the other flooring in there. Though I'm not convinced that alone will remove the other animals' smells but it could definitely help a lot.

Tomorrow I hopefully have a day to my self, so planning on scrubbing the floor boards in the nursery with watered down bleech, atm I cant do the dining room and spare bedroom because they are just full of junk! but once the dining room is empty and been decorated I plan on using my brothers carpet cleaner in there (the carpet was pretty new), and the spare bedroom will be scrubbed aswell before the new carpet goes down, for now I guess its just being mean to them and shutting them out majority of the rooms :/
I cant believe she's just walked in tho and done it right infront of me in my paper basket :/ so glad my pregnancy notes are in a plastic wallet!

the moving has probably upset them, especially if there were cats there previously, be patient. also i would get the female done as this is also unsettling for both of them probably. try using a stong scent on the places they go...might discourage them from going back.

Aw nightmare - Just had a quick google search and found the below that a vet had suggested. Hope it helps. x

I would highly recommend that you take her to the vet for an examination to rule out any medical problems. A stool sample and a urine sample should be checked, and sometimes blood tests must be done to check kidney/liver and rule out diabetes. She may very well have a medical problem that is causing her to do this and not out of spite.

In the meantime, you should ditch the old litter boxes and get new ones. She may be associating the old litter boxes with pain or anxiety and stress. This sounds like a litter box aversion since she will not use them. The rule of thumb is one more litter box than the number of cats in the house. Scoop the boxes every day and totally clean them with hot, soapy, water every 1-2 weeks (never use chemicals as they can react with the ammonia in the cat's urine and produce a noxious gas). Make sure to praise her when she uses the litter box and NEVER PUNISH HER for not using the box or you will just worsen the situation. Also, make sure she is getting some physical play time with you for at least 20 minutes a day which will help reduce her stress.

I would highly recommend CAT ATTRACT which is a special litter designed to draw cats back to the box www.preciouscat.com

And lastly, I would suggest that you get FELIWAY/Comfort Zone diffusers for the house to help ease the stress and anxiety.

dont use bleach it has amonia in it and will only attract them more.

you need to use a biological washing powder then put surgical spirits on the areas they pee this will remove the smell.

def get a feliway diffuser, available from most vets or on line. i would say its def due to you moving.

how many litter trays do you have? one per cat plus a spare one is the reccommended.

if that doesnt work confine them to one room only with a litter tray, then gradually let them have more and more of the house.

We used to have one litter box at the old house, and they was fine with that, have two here tho, with my OH sleeping all day and me not wanting to do it now im expecting.

Its not just the female its the male, its the first time iv known Poppy to go somewhere else.
We are planning to get Poppy "done" this month, if it isn't to late, couldn't afford to look after us all last month and get them both done, so just had Tom done, now OHs wage's should be nearly back to normal we can get Poppy done.
As far as im aware, since this mornings incident, I don't think they have done anything else, i'v been out with my mum and not seen the OH at all so need to check with him.
