So, it is kind of old fashioned but I answer the phone with my phone number, so "hello XXXXXXXXXXXX" kind of thing.

I had spoken to my Dad earlier and he was going to phone me back and so when the phone rang I knew it almost certainly would be him, I answered the phone and managed to stop myself but it took all my strength not to answer with his phone number!! (He would be the one the taught me to answer the phone that way!)

I do these special things quite often!!

I'm not sure I like doing that if I am honest, my dh just says "hello" though and I don't like that more!!

Depends on my mood, its usually just a normal "Heyyyy!" OR "Hello"

But sometimes its "Hello, mad house!"

my MD at work does this too, except he often answers his office phone or mobile with his home number!
lucky people dont know what area he lives in or he'd get calls alllll day!!

i never knew people did that. i dont even know my number. i usually say WHAT if someone i dont know phones me. so annoying all this phoning buiseness.

You could always try the thing from the Keeping Up Appearances programme. "The Bouquet residence, lady of the house speaking." That's a bit different.

and if an 0800 number rings me, BOY do they enjoy hearing my pregnancy-induced-wrath
