And as I think you said, the internet is a wealth of knowledge and there seems to be very little restrictions on who can view what (ok,so the pages say 'do not enter if you are under 18',but thats not going to stop anyone is it)!!i just personally feel happier knowing that if my child for some reason was that way inclined at that age (although I am gona try my hardest to convince them not to be) then I want them to be able to do it safely and not just bury my head in the sand!!
yes i know your right. they are doing alot more kinky things than even us adults would do, and earlier than 15 and at the end of the day they have easy access to internet porn if they want to see something. i honestly dont know why they have laws about these things anymore. all its good for is stopping them buying magazines/movies!

Ive only read the first 2 pages of the thread...but i just wanted to say it makes me feel quite sick!
The thought of 12 year olds having sex

I know it happens, im not cooped up in cloud coo coo. But seriously? What 12 year old is going to go to the shop and buy some condoms?? When some men cant even do it in their 20s?
And also, i thought it was illegal to sell them to under 16s?

I'm undecided tbh. The whole idea is really oxymoronic for me

Is it? You can get them pretty easily from family clinic or even ebay!

Also, it's nothing to do with the parents. I've had regular sex with boyfriends since I was 14 and my mum was a fabulous parent, I never wandered the streets late at night either.

The idea of 12 year olds, or even younger, having sex is just I'm pretty sure that the reason they don't use condoms isn't because they don't fit them. I think it is most likely that, as a 12 year old, sex is something that is hush hush and makes you giggle, because let's face it, 12 year olds are immature. So I can't see them going into a chemist to buy condoms whatever size they make them in. They would be far too embarrassed.

Lol,i know, but thats all it is at that age...just something to do.very few,if any,do it coz they are in love with the other person, and I really hope they wouldnt be TTC at that age!!

I know a few blokes who use ebay as their source for condoms...i find it funny that they couldnt just buy them from a shop!!

I agree,at 12 children really shouldnt be thinking of sex as a past-time,but the reality is some of them do.an unfortunate amount of them do!!that is why I believe our sex-ed should begin much younger and not just be a couple of weeks when you are 12 or whenever it is!!sex education isnt even part of the curriculum,so think how many children out there arent even recieving sex-ed at all before they get into bed with someone else?and then the government wonder why we have such high teenage pregnancy rates!!
yes it is! there is some that is compulsory that parents are not allowed to remove their children from & some that parents may remove their children from if they wish. Sex ed is very well taught imo. but what annoys me is once again schools/teachers are being blamed- its a parents responsibility to 'morally educate' a child not just a schools

im not blaming schools or teachers. and i agree that parents should play the biggest part in teaching their children morals etc. but the safest way to ensure all children are getting access to the same level of 'sex-ed' is to have it in schools, and imo, starting from a younger age than we currently do
as for it being on the curriculum, what i meant was schools are pretty much left to decide themselves how to teach it and what to teach (on the non compulsory part). yes they get government guidelines but they are only guidelines, therefore children in one area may be completely clued up, but in the next town they havent got a clue!! the compulsory part is just the science side of it (ie, this is what happens inside your body, and what different parts are for etc). or at least that is how i have come to understand it!! if im wrong then fair enough

eta-i have just re-read that and it sounds really argumentative but its not supposed to be. just trying to clear up my original post on it
