The UK has the highest number of teenage pregnancies in Europe - so I'd say its not a joke - something needs to be done to stop this happening.
yeah kids need to stop having sex.
That would be the easy solution, but the UK has tried all sorts, sex education, shocking adverts on TV - nothing has really worked.
but why has this happened? whats the root of the problem? why have children started having sex at a younger age than they did years ago?
we dont have this problem here, it doesnt affect me in any way but it saddens me that there is such a problem going on.
I have no idea - when I was that age...well the whole way through school even - I had absolutely no sexual desires what so ever, so I find it hard to understand why they do now.
When I see girls in school now they look so much older, like older teens, we all looked like kids even when we left at 16!

It's pretty silly to expect or think that teenagers aren't going to have sex. Whether people agree or not, the biological reality is that their hormones start working then and no amount of shocking ads and ''education'' is going to override hormones. It's the exact same thing as asking a grown adult to abstain from sex for the next five or more years.

I'm not convinced that making smaller condoms encourages sexual activity. I read a study recently where some areas which had a very strong religious foundation (hence preached abstinence) had higher rates of teen pregnancy than less religious locations (study in the states). It's just one study but it's pretty revealing. Abstinence programs don't work for the most part and that's been pretty soundly established too.

I don't think they should necessarily *market* these condoms as being for younger teenagers. After all, even grown men have penises of varying sizes and many could benefit from a properly-fitting condom, so I don't think those condoms should be age-specified. It's just a size issue. Agreed though that I can't see a lot of men going in and asking for small condoms, LOL

What's the point of having an age of consent if you're then going to market condoms at young teenagers?
To reduce teenage pregnancies - and I suppose STDs.

I think parents of these kids have a lot to answer for - you know letting them dress like adults and go out at night etc....but we will never be able to make that kind of parent so their job properly unless they are punished.

Personally I think one thing which would help hugely would be that school age kids have to be home at a certain time - and if they are found out in the town and are under age then the PARENTS should be penalised - something has to happen to make the parents take responsibility of their children and what they are getting up to.

People are not having sex at ''younger ages'' than they did years ago. It's been happening since the beginning of time. In fact, it was MORE normal for teenagers to be having children and marrying in ''ancient times'' (hate using that word) than it was for older ones. The only thing that has changed since those times is that people started being healthier for longer in their lives, lived longer in many cases, and slowly the CULTURAL norm for sex and children changed, not the BIOLOGICAL norm that has underscored sexual activity for centuries.

That might be true of YOUR sex drive, but people have varying sex drives. Some women on here speak of the need for sex several times a week whereas others are happy to go without for long periods of time, or only get the urge once a week, or a couple of times a month. It's all very individual, and yes, there certainly are many teenagers who wouldn't have the urge or thought to do so, but there are also many that do!
