I'm Currently Feeling: | SAT NAV Question - Route it takes you! Isn't there an option on these things that tells you to take the MAIN road! My Aunts is always taking her up back roads and although technically its a shorter route its longer because its all back small silly roads so slower!
Any idea roughly where the option is! I know I don't haev exact model now but generally the idea of where it is might help! | | | | Status: Offline

| Yes Wobbs, on ours (Tomtom) you can select options such as avoid Motorway or certain road types etc...you can also select the road type you want to use, so you should be able to select main roads only. It may depend on what Sat Nav you have, but i've used a few and they are pretty much of a muchness. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | With ours you can turn off the motorways etc but theres two other options. Shortest and quickest. If we select quickest it takes you along the main roads with higher speed limits. | | | | Status: Online

| ON ours you touch the bottom of the screen, then select FIND ALTERNATIVE, then select AVOID PART OF ROUTE OR TRAVEL VIA and you can do it that way. or
If you prepare your route, after its asked you to select the destination it will ask you to select one of the following;
FASTEST ROUTE
SHORTEST
AVOID MOTORWAYS
WALKING ROUTE
BICYCKE ROUTE
LIMITED SPEED | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Its defo not a Tomtom - see I wondered that but thought surely they all work about the same way and the options or alike options can't be much different.
When I see her today I will have a looksie I think!

I'm Currently Feeling: | always use "fastest" route, not "shortest" - it'll stick to the main roads then.
I have LiveALK - it's better than TomTom for sticking to main roads but not always using the motorways ('cos it picks up live congestion info) but also Tasha can log into the live web interface and send me a message and see where I am on a map - how cool is that?! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Ok she has a RAC sat nav! Its a pain shes tried both shortest and fastest optionalso tried lorry driver options and it still takes you 30 minutes longer than it shoudl to get from A to B. All up back roads, small, narrow back roads even tells you to turn right onto a FIELD!!
Aunts is dyslectic and panics driving so this thing is a saver however the routes are a bloody nightmare! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Get rid of it - the RAC lot are the ex-via michelin... they were rubbish at the trade show 3 years ago and they haven't got any better now.
Get a TomTom or Garmin.... or, if you can, a Co-Pilot device. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I borrowed my friends the other week and she had it set to avoid motorway, took me about 2 hours to do the 30 minute trip, I kept thinking 'this is a long way round' haha | | | | Status: Offline
