My car goes 40 miles to the gallon. So however much a gallon of petrol is. I don't even know how much a gallon is in terms of a litre. But all i do is pay the price at the till!" I've no actual idea of how much it all costs for how many miles... my Oh is the one to deal with all the complicated car talk

I used to have a 2.7 ltr auto that would do 350 miles on a tank... typically 65 ltrs... used to cost about £65 to fill up... so - I'd imagine driving conservatively (rather than lib dem, really I should phrase it driving like a greeny but I digress), no more than 3000rpm, that it should cost about £15-20 to do 30 miles, with no air-con - that drops fuel consumption by 10%. Again, having the windows down or the sunroof drops it by 2-4%... coast down hills if you can, use the slip stream of trucks... the diesel merc i had before the volvo used to average 300-350 miles to a tank and was an auto too but had a bigger tank in the back... but then clients heard of air-con and that hit the end of that!
