Funny because when I saw that I commented to a friend about it. I remember a long time ago chatting with my cousin about it because of the lack of availability of clean/ safe water. She told me that if I was ever visiting there it would be in my best interest to drink ONLY bottled drinks. I think she said that coke was really cheap there too

hehe In medieval germany people would drink more beer as well because it was safer than to drink water xD

Wow... I hope some of those were just the weekly shop and not how much they actually eat in just a week... that's a lot of food! Amazing to think that if one were to send just $5 to a family in Chad, it could cover their food budget for over a month.

lol Maybe when DH and I are living together again I'll take a pic of our weekly shop, then dig this thread back up and post it!

Mayo sandwiches are great! Tartalicious! Used to have them often as a kid..

Very fascinating thread, thank you for sharing. I was embarrassed about the states family (as from there) until I saw the second one, LOL..a lot more appropriate to what I know.

The Chad family and even the one from Ecuador were pretty sparse alright

I wish they would list what some of the stuff was, especially in packets as I'm curious what some of it was!
