As amy said there is a nado's in m/brough and its only 10 mins on the bus from stockton. Stockton is also only 15 mins train ride away from darlo.

Iv got a 2 bed teraced house for £450 but you can get bigger houses for that. Council tax is cheep and there are some good schools.

Durham is lovely but if you want more for your money then have a look at some of the smaller towns and villages near to the Metrocentre or Newcastle. Most of them don't have stations but the bus network is really good - I used to live in that area. Have a look at Whickham, Blaydon, Ryton, Birtley, Chester-le-Street, Rowlands Gill etc. PM me if you want info on anything in that area.

Oh, and forget Jesmond and Gosforth - you won't find what you are looking for within your budget in those areas - they are the most expensive areas.

Denton Burn isn't bad, neither is West Denton. Byker is a bit hit and miss, not sure about Newbiggin.

I agree with trying areas of Gateshead, good transport links. Ryton and Rowland's Gill are likely to be too expensive.

If you really want to find what places are like search fir the area's economic deprivation index, I think you can find them on national statistics online. The reality is that much of the NE is deprived making many areas not desperately nice. I think I have differen standards to some though, I'd be hard pushed to find anywhere nice in Ashington and Blyth. Blyth is massively deprived and a heroin hotspot. I lived in nearby Bedlington and would not live in SE Northumberland for anything! If you do want to go that way then Cramlington is probably your best bet for not too expensive, it's a new town and not too bad.

Of course Jesmond and South Gosforth are out of your price range but I was saying that they are the best areas in the city. Though parts of Gosforth are affordable as it is a bug student area which also means lots of rental properties.

i can tell you where NOT to live, newcastle areas i would stay away from blakelaw and cowgate, oh grew up there and its dead rough. West denton, denton burn and westerhope are ok. Newbiggin hall is ok but like everywhere has its rough and nicer parts. Ponteland is nice but expensive. gosforth and jesmond will be quite expensive too.

Newcastle is great, the nightlife is brilliant as is the shopping.
