I think its how you take certain bad areas. I live in West cornforth which is a little mining village outside of durham which has got a very bad name but its actually not as bad as many people make it out to be. As long as you dont go making trouble for yourself or rub the locals up the wrong way, then you'll find most places arent that bad

yeh i suppose, i mean liverpool has a really bad name and the area i live now is full of like barred up shops and that and when my little bro came to visit me he was like why the fuck do u live here, its proper rough haha, but its actually nice here, weve had no trouble at all, saying that though, when i look at houses in liverpool i look for this one area cos i know there are other areas where i will most definitely get shot lol

Durham will be expensive, same for newcastle... closer you move to a city more expensive it will be.

for £500 in middlesbrough you could easy get a nice house. Stockton is only 5 miles from middlesbrough (nandos in middlesbrough) and you'd get a nice house there for £500 too. If you wanted to apply for an association house www.endeavourha.co.uk they do 3 bed houses for £350 but obv have waiting lists. I am with that housing HA and they do lovely houses you just have to pick the right areas.

If you look for houses around boro/stockton and anything catches your eye PM me and ill let you know what the areas like! (if i know it of course)

Avoid Park End and Netherfields in Middlesbrough, Linthorpe is nice... dont go to the town center xx

There's a Nandos in Newcastle and one in Durham.

Don't go to any of those if you want nice! West Denton is probably the best of that bunch but it's a bad pick. The nicest areas of Newcastle are South Gosforth and Jesmond, further out to the coast North Shields is a mixed bag and Tynemouth and Cullercoats are lovely. Heaton is a reasonable middle (studenty) as are other parts of Gosforth. Avoid Byker and Elswick. Kenton is not much cop either.

For Durham, the city is mostly pretty nice but the county is very mixed. Peterlee and Seaham and Easington and pretty dire.

For the record neither York nor Hull are in the North East! They are both in Yorkshire!

Newbiggin is alright but its much further away from Newcastle than any of those other places. If your pulic transporting Id say you're looking at 45 minutes. If you are looking at Newbiggin you might want to have a look at Ashington & Blyth too, both have nice and not so nice areas but nothing terrible.
