I didn't watch it, don't think I will for a couple of weeks to get that storyline away if you know what I mean?

I'm sometimes 'funny' with baby stories as it is

I didn't watch it but i'd read in a magazine about what was going to happen. OH had it on and i told him to turn it over. He asked why and i explained what happens to Maria. He asked "but surely you cant lose the baby at that late stage?" Bless him. I had to explain that unfortunately you can lose a baby at any stage, it all depends on the circumstances. He looked so worried after that. I think he actually understands now that no LO is really safe until they're born and have been checked over.

to those that have been through this terrible ordeal.

unfortunately you do have to go home and come back to deliver the baby, i had to walk around for three days before being induced, i even begged to be put to sleep and have a c-sect but they wouldn't allow it. i find these story lines in poor taste and even on a level offensive to those who have gone through a certain thing.

and all those people that watch it and go 'god i dont know what id do if that was me' pee me off cause your damn lucky that you never have and its unlikly that you will go through something like that.

but hey all in the name of good tv huh!

i just think there are certain subject they should leave well alone, we all know it can happen some more so than others we dont need it forced into living rooms.

you can just turn your tv off

wrong

its in papers, internet, people gossiping about it.

I agree, there are some things that can be too disturbing for people to watch, we all know it happens but the worry and stress that some pregnant mum having watched it can be too much for some.

I also think the 'emmerdale' storyline was excruitiating, I was left in bits by it and I'm sure lots of other mums were too. I totally agree that anybody having experienced certain things can be abit more sensitive, as in the 'emmerdale' storyline I did find my 2 year old son had stopped breathing (he was 8 weeks old) but thankfully after I gave him cpr he started to breathe again but this storyline devesatated me, it brought everything all back to me and I do think its very irresponsible for programme makers to just dump that on viewers who will have no support, I also lost a little one at 14 weeks and did have a labour and a subsequrnt birth as well.

Sorry to have taken over the thread with another story but I think if you have experienced the same you can perhaps feel it abit deeper.

the programme makers get around that one by putting an automated help line up at the end of the show thus supporting their viewers.....

its a shame really.

im sure there are a huge group of people who thought it was great drama and enjoyed it which is why they will continue to have story lines like this long into the future.

im afraid my dear we are a minority in the in the grand scheme of viewing figures

Problem is all they are concerned about is viewing figures. Nothing is sacred anymore. I for one won't be watching it.

Do you think people actually 'enjoy' these storylines? Can't say I enjoyed it but it was not as bad as I thought - when the Emmerdale storyline came on it shook me big time because I'm Mum & the possibility ...but can't relate to how someone having actually been in that situation would find watching Corries episode! I didn't turn over to watch this storyline I just watch the soaps daily

I'm sure nobody would mean to upset lolly if they said that I spent my pregnancy worrying after my history I can only relate to the pure fear.

One of the stepped too far for me was the Corries murders like with Ashleys wife murdered by Gails hubby or hubby to be! That was shocking and made me ill!

I might not be popular for saying this but... I feel like I have to. And I really don't mean to offend anyone! I've never been through this, and I really hope to god I never have to. I can't even begin to imagine the pain it would cause and Im so very sorry to anyone who has.. you're all very brave.

As I said earlier, my midwife has NEVER said anything to me about my babys movements... shes never told me if I dont feel him for a day or so to go to the hospital. A lot of people on here might think its common sense but Ive never been pregnant before, I dont have anyone around me who has, so how am I supposed to know whats right and whats not? The only reason I know is because Im a member on this message board. And Im sure a lot of people have been in the same boat as me.

So why is it wrong for corrie to bring this story line up? As wobbs said, no one will enjoy watching it. But something thats so widely watched and talked about will bring up peoples awareness of this sort of thing. It might make someone realise 'Actually, I haven't felt my baby move today, maybe I should go and checked out'. And that can't be a bad thing, right? If it means that at least ONE person takes note and goes and gets checked out then surely it's worth it?

It is something very upsetting to watch, but at the end of the day, if you don't want to watch it, then don't. I didn't watch it because I thought it would be too upsetting.

Its a funny thing though. I was in a car crash and three of my friends (including my boyfriend at the time) were killed and it took me a long time to get over, and I still get flashbacks when watching or reading things about car crashes. But if theres ever a story line like that it never gets talked about, even though it's just as upsetting for some people. Just a thought.

xxx
