My ole faithful hamster has died today aged 2 and 10 months( well thats how long I've had her anyway).
I must say I'm absolutely gutted, I have a dog, a cat and loads of fish but I had a special attatchment to my hamster, her name was Tinkerbell and she was the smartest rodent you have ever seen, she never bit anyone ever, she was a genius escape artist but always came back and she was a movie star as well lol. She starred in my daughters school video production which i have on DVD.
Kids are not back from school yet and they will be mortified. She hasn't been well for ages and for the last 6 weeks or so we have been hand feeding her giving her pureed food and water through a tiny pipette as she was unable to eat. I checked her this morning and then went out for a couple of hours, when I came back she was dead
So, I've dug a hole in the garden and made a memory stone to put on top when she has been buried but I'm gonna wait and see if the kids want to bury her as they have done with other pets of ours.
Was having a terrible day to start with and this has just topped it off, I know she was only a hamster but she was a great pet and will be missed.

I know exactly how you feel. I posted a similar thread a few weeks ago when my hamster died.

aww hon... a pet is a pet, they are part of the family no matter how big small or slimy...

Awww!!! I am sorry! I love my little critters and would feel so bad if one died. Hope the kids arent too cut up.

Kids were REALLY upset but I'm glad I waited for them to see her when they got back from school, they buried her with some bedding and some sunflower seeds.

My oldest hamster died last week. Its heartbreaking when a much loved pet dies. I have vowed not to get any more because it upsets me too much.
