Sorry to hear that your friend has gone thru this. I had this happen to me about 5 years ago but it was an arson attack on me and my daughters by their father. I also had no contents insurance and only got a £700 payment fronm the social to replace the contents of a 3 bedroom house! The stupid thing is i couldnt even get money thru the court from my ex because he ended up getting a custodial sentance for 5 years for doing it.

That is so terrible

The only reason we took out contents insurance is coz it was part of our contract with our land lady that we had to have it, otherwise it was probably an expense we could have done without. Stories like that though make you feel greatful that you do have it.

As someone else said, money cant replace everything but it sure is a help sometimes.

Thankfully no one was hurt, but such a sad story Sounds like shes got people rallying round for her though.
